Jay Clayton to lead Trump's new federal AI task force

US President Donald Trump has picked Jay Clayton, his director of national intelligence, to run a new federal task force on artificial intelligence. The director of national intelligence oversees the US intelligence community.

Trump announced the appointment on Sunday in a social media post. He calls the group the "Super Intelligence Force," which fits his recent effort to rebrand AI as "super intelligence."

The announcement came only days after Trump hosted top executives from AI companies at the White House. At that meeting he said the firms had signed a voluntary accord that would, in effect, let the industry police its own AI development.

Anthropic asks Claude users to share voice for AI training

Anthropic has begun asking Claude users whether it can use their voice conversations to train and improve its AI models. The request is optional, and the setting behind it is off by default.

The prompt shows up when people use Claude's voice features. It asks directly for permission to use audio recordings and voice chat data for model training.

"Allow us to use your voice data to improve our AI models," the prompt reads. It goes on to explain: "Audio recordings and voice chat data help improve how Anthropic AI models understand and respond to speech. Turn this off or delete this data anytime in settings."

Gemini Desktop may get full access to Mac files and apps

Google appears to be preparing a mode for its Gemini Desktop app on macOS that would let the AI assistant reach any file on the machine, open and operate apps, browse the web, and act without asking for approval each time.

The feature has not launched, and Google has not confirmed it. It was spotted by TestingCatalog, which posted on X about Google testing desktop control for Gemini and about references to a hidden setting called "Additional sandbox options."

Beyond connected folders

At the moment, Gemini can only work with folders the user has explicitly connected to it. The hidden setting would remove that limit. Once switched on, Gemini could read, create, modify and delete files anywhere on the computer.

DTU breach exposes data of up to 200,000 people

The Technical University of Denmark (DTU) has disclosed a data breach that may affect up to 200,000 current and former users. Hackers logged into the university's identity and access management system and downloaded a large volume of data.

According to DTU, the attacker used compromised credentials to access DTUBasen, the university's identity and access management (IAM) platform. That system holds user records going back more than 20 years.

In its Friday disclosure, the university said it cannot "determine precisely what information was downloaded or how many people have been affected."

DTUBasen contains records for roughly 40,000 active users and about 160,000 former users. These figures make up the upper estimate of 200,000 potentially affected people.

doxx.net raises $38M for private network for AI agents

Miami-based doxx.net has closed a $38 million Series A round and launched a networking platform meant to keep AI agents away from malicious destinations while they browse and act for their users.

Andreessen Horowitz led the round, with Animo Ventures and Focal.vc also taking part. The company was founded in 2025 by serial founder Barrett Lyon, who also serves as its CEO, and operates across six continents.

The problem with agents on the open web

AI agents now browse websites, contact services, communicate and take actions on behalf of the people who deploy them. They do this with their users' accounts and authority. The issue, according to doxx.net, is that these agents cannot reliably tell safe information and actions apart from unsafe ones.
